Together with the Mexican Cultural Institute, Maria Mazzenga, curator of American Catholic History Collections in the University Libraries Special Collections; and Julia Young, associate professor of history, produced a short video about the Treaty of Córdoba and Plan de Iguala.
The treaty was signed by Spain on Aug. 24, 1821, and made Mexico an independent constitutional monarchy. The signing of the treaty ratified the Plan de Iguala, leading to the end of Mexico's war of Independence (1810-1821).
The Catholic University of America has an original copy of the Plan de Iguala, which is part of the Kearney-Iturbide collection in the libraries’ Special Collections.
